The Herman Miller Mirra is one of the most recognizable task chairs in corporate offices. Its perforated polymer back, supportive seat and tidy set of adjustments made it a common pick for large workplace rollouts. That history is exactly why you see so many of them on the pre-owned market today: companies move, downsize or refresh, and good chairs come back into circulation.
If you are shopping for a used Herman Miller Mirra chair, the questions that matter are simple. What condition is it really in? Which adjustments does it have? And who stands behind it after the sale? This page answers all three.
Buying from an independent reseller
Office Station sells pre-owned designer furniture as an independent reseller. We are not an authorized Herman Miller dealer, and we do not claim to be. We also run corporate office liquidation and decommissioning projects, where furniture is removed and inventoried so it can be reused rather than discarded.
Being independent means two things for you. First, pricing is set by the pre-owned market rather than a dealer list price. Second, the manufacturer warranty generally does not transfer to a pre-owned chair. We would rather tell you that up front than have you discover it later.
How we grade used Mirra chairs
Every chair gets one of three condition grades. All three are functional chairs. The grade describes appearance and wear so you can match the chair to where it will be used.
| Grade | What it means | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| A: Like new | Minimal to no visible wear. Clean upholstery and frame, smooth mechanisms. | Client-facing areas, executive offices, anyone who wants a near-new look |
| B: Very good | Light signs of use such as minor scuffs on the base or arms. Fully functional. | Open-plan teams and daily task seating where value matters |
| C: Good | Visible cosmetic wear such as marks, fading or arm pad wear. Works as intended. | Training rooms, back offices, home offices, tight budgets |
A grade is a snapshot of that specific chair. If appearance matters for a particular space, ask for details on the exact units you are buying, especially for larger matched orders.

Original Mirra vs Mirra 2
You will find two generations of this chair in the used market. The original Mirra has a one-piece flexible polymer back. Mirra 2 followed with a redesigned back that flexes more in response to movement, along with a seat that gives at the front edge. Both are capable task chairs. Which one is better for you depends mostly on how the chair is configured and how it feels when you sit in it.
Because Mirra chairs were sold with a range of options, two chairs that look alike can adjust differently. Features that may or may not be present include:
- Adjustable arms (height only, or height plus width and pivot)
- Adjustable seat depth
- Adjustable lumbar support
- Tilt tension and a tilt limiter
- Forward tilt
- Seat material and base finish
If a specific adjustment is important to you, confirm it on the chair before you order. That single step prevents most buyer regret with used task seating.
What to check on any used Mirra
Whether you buy from us or anyone else, run through this checklist. It takes about five minutes per chair.
- Height adjustment. Raise and lower the seat several times. It should hold its position without slowly sinking.
- Tilt and recline. Lean back through the full range. Listen for grinding or clicking, and test the tension knob.
- Tilt limiter. If equipped, confirm each stop engages.
- Arms. Move them through every adjustment. Check arm pads for cracks, tears or loose caps.
- Back. Look for cracks in the polymer, particularly near attachment points.
- Seat. Inspect the fabric or suspension for tears, stains and sagging.
- Base and casters. Roll the chair on a hard floor. Casters should turn freely, and the base should sit level.
- Labels. Manufacturer labels under the seat can help you identify the model and generation.
Where a used Mirra makes sense
A pre-owned Mirra is a practical choice when you want a well-designed ergonomic chair without paying new-chair prices. It is especially sensible when you are furnishing several desks at once, since the savings multiply with every seat.
It is a less ideal choice if you need an unbroken manufacturer warranty, a specific current fabric color, or dozens of perfectly matched chairs on a fixed date. In those cases, talk to us about what inventory looks like before you commit, and weigh whether a mix of grades works for your space.
Many buyers pair chairs with workstations. If you are outfitting an entire floor, our used cubicles offer three tiers: liquidation-grade, remanufactured and new, with free space planning. You can also browse the broader pre-owned office furniture catalog for desks, tables and storage.
How ordering works
Tell us how many chairs you need, the grade or grades you will accept, and where they are going. We will confirm availability and what each chair includes. Delivery within Greater Phoenix follows zone pricing, and shipments elsewhere in the country are quoted per project.
Have chairs to sell instead? If your company is moving or closing an office, our office furniture liquidation service provides a written net offer: the resale value of your furniture minus the cost to remove it.
Frequently asked questions
Is Office Station an authorized Herman Miller dealer?
No. Office Station is an independent reseller of pre-owned furniture, including Herman Miller chairs. We are not affiliated with or authorized by the manufacturer. That is why we grade every chair ourselves and describe its condition plainly.
Does the Herman Miller warranty transfer to a used Mirra chair?
Generally, no. Manufacturer warranties usually apply to the original purchaser buying through authorized channels, so they typically do not carry over to pre-owned chairs. Ask us about the condition and any terms that apply to a specific chair before you buy.
What is the difference between the original Mirra and Mirra 2?
Mirra 2 is the updated version of the chair, with a redesigned back and a more flexible seat edge. Both generations are widely used in offices. Because adjustments and options vary from chair to chair, check the specific listing or ask us to confirm what a given chair includes.
What do the A, B and C condition grades mean?
Grade A is like new, Grade B is very good, and Grade C is good. Every grade is a working chair. The grade tells you how much cosmetic wear to expect, so you can choose between the best appearance and the lowest cost.
Can I buy Mirra chairs in bulk for an office?
Yes, ask us about quantity availability. Matching a large order in one grade and color depends on current inventory, so share your count and preferences early. You can reach us at hello@officestation.com.
