Steelcase is a familiar contract furniture brand in many offices. That familiarity is part of why used Steelcase furniture is easy to find, easy to match and usually a sensible buy: panels, chairs and storage built for years of commercial use often still have plenty of life when an office turns them over.
This page explains how Office Station sells pre-owned Steelcase, what each condition grade means, how pricing and lead times compare, and what to check before you commit.
Why buyers choose used Steelcase
- Durability. Contract-grade frames, mechanisms and panels are designed for daily commercial use, so a well-kept piece can serve a second office for years.
- Consistency. Offices often decommission large matching sets, which makes it practical to furnish a full floor in one look.
- Expansion. If you already have Steelcase in place, pre-owned pieces can help you add stations without mixing brands, provided compatibility checks out.
- Speed. In-stock liquidation-grade furniture can be ready in as little as 72 hours, compared with 4 to 6 weeks for new.
How used Steelcase is graded
| Grade | Condition | What to expect | Good fit for |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Like new | Minimal to no visible wear, fully functional | Client areas, executive suites |
| B | Very good | Light signs of use, fully functional | Most open-plan and private offices |
| C | Good | Noticeable wear, functional | Back office, storage, budget builds |
A common strategy is to put Grade A seating and workstations where visitors walk through and use Grade B or C where the team works heads-down. The furniture performs the same job; the difference is cosmetic.
Pricing: liquidation-grade, remanufactured and new
For a 6'x6' workstation, furniture-only prices are:
| Option | Per station | Lead time | 20 stations after 5% discount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Liquidation-grade | $615 | As little as 72 hours in stock | $11,685 |
| Remanufactured | $1,245 | Usually 7 to 14 days | $23,655 |
| New | $1,920 | 4 to 6 weeks | $36,480 |
Average market rate Prices subject to availability and project pricing.
Prices exclude electrical, delivery and professional installation. Specific brand and product availability varies, so confirm the line and finish on your quote.
Volume pricing
- 20 or more stations: 5% off
- 50 or more stations: 8% off
- 100 or more stations: 12% off
At 100 liquidation-grade stations, for example, the furniture total drops from $61,500 to $54,120. Installation is $95 per workstation with a $495 minimum. Greater Phoenix delivery is $195 central or $295 metro, and freight elsewhere in the country is quoted per project.
What to check before buying used Steelcase
- Product line and generation. Steelcase has offered several panel systems over the years. Parts and connectors are not always interchangeable across lines, so identify what you have before adding to it.
- Panel heights. Confirm heights match your existing stations or your privacy goals.
- Finishes and fabrics. Laminate colors, trim and fabric can vary between batches. Ask for photos if an exact match matters.
- Power and data. Check whether panels include powered bases and whether the electrical components suit your building. Electrical installation is not included in pricing.
- Chair mechanisms. Test or ask about tilt, seat height, arm adjustments and lumbar. Grade reflects function, but your team's needs matter too.
- Complete components. Make sure worksurfaces, supports, overheads, pedestals and connectors are all accounted for on the quote.
Graded as-is or remanufactured?
Buyers sometimes confuse condition grades with the remanufactured option. They answer different questions.
- Condition grade tells you how a pre-owned piece looks and functions today: A like new, B very good, C good.
- Liquidation-grade versus remanufactured tells you how much work went into the station before it reaches you, which is reflected in the price difference between $615 and $1,245 for a 6'x6' station and in the lead time.
If your priority is getting a team seated fast at the lowest cost, liquidation-grade Steelcase in Grade A or B is often enough. If you want a more uniform, refreshed look across a large floor and can wait 7 to 14 days, remanufactured is worth comparing. Either way, confirm on the quote exactly which components, finishes and grades you are buying, since that document is your reference point without a transferable manufacturer warranty.

Frequently asked questions
Is Office Station an authorized Steelcase dealer?
No. Office Station is an independent reseller of pre-owned furniture and is not an authorized dealer for Steelcase or any other manufacturer. Steelcase is named only to describe the furniture being resold.
Does the Steelcase warranty transfer with used furniture?
Generally no. Manufacturer warranties generally do not transfer to pre-owned furniture. Rely on the condition grade and a careful review of your quote instead.
What do grades A, B and C mean for used Steelcase?
Grade A is like new, Grade B is very good, and Grade C is good. Grades describe the visible and functional condition of each item. Many buyers combine grades across different areas of the office to balance appearance and budget.
Are there discounts for large used Steelcase orders?
Yes. Volume pricing on workstations is 5% at 20 or more stations, 8% at 50 or more, and 12% at 100 or more. Space planning is free, which helps confirm counts before you order.
Can I add to an existing Steelcase panel system?
Often, but verify the product line, panel heights, connectors and finishes before ordering. Different Steelcase systems and generations do not always connect. Share photos and model details so compatibility can be reviewed.
