The Middle Tier

Remanufactured Office Furniture

Remanufactured workstations sit between as-is liquidation furniture and brand new. You get refreshed stations for $1,245 per 6'x6' station, usually in 7-14 days, instead of $1,920 and a 4-6 week wait.

Pre-owned office workstations

If you are furnishing an office, you usually face a trade-off between price, speed and appearance. Remanufactured office furniture is the tier built for buyers who want all three in reasonable balance: noticeably cleaner than as-is used furniture, far cheaper than new, and available in days rather than weeks.

What remanufactured means

Remanufactured furniture starts as pre-owned systems furniture, typically from corporate offices that closed, moved or downsized. Instead of going straight back out as-is, the components are broken down, inspected and refreshed so the finished stations look and function consistently.

That is the key difference from liquidation-grade furniture. Liquidation-grade stations are sold in the condition they came out of the building, sorted by grade. Remanufactured stations have had work put into them before they reach you. Because the scope of that work varies by product and component, ask for the details on your specific order so you know exactly what you are getting.

Office Station sources pre-owned furniture from brands such as Herman Miller, Steelcase, Knoll, Haworth, Teknion, Allsteel, Kimball, AIS and Friant. We are an independent reseller, not an authorized dealer for any of them.

When remanufactured is the right call

Choose remanufactured when:

  • People will see the space. Reception-adjacent pods, sales floors and offices where clients walk through benefit from a uniform, refreshed look.
  • Your deadline is weeks, not months. A 7-14 day window fits most lease starts and hiring plans that a 4-6 week new order would miss.
  • Your budget cannot stretch to new. At $1,245 versus $1,920, you save $675 per station, which adds up fast across a floor.
  • You want consistency across a larger order. Refreshed components make it easier to get a room that reads as one set.

Liquidation-grade is often smarter when speed or cost matters most, such as a training room, a temporary project team or an overflow area. New makes sense when you need a very specific configuration, finish or warranty from the manufacturer and you have time to wait.

What a remanufactured order costs

Here is a worked example for 40 remanufactured 6'x6' stations delivered in central Greater Phoenix:

LineAmount
40 stations at $1,245$49,800
Volume discount, 5% at 20+ stations-$2,490
Furniture subtotal$47,310
Installation, 40 at $95$3,800
Delivery, central Greater Phoenix$195
Estimated total before electrical and tax$51,305

Average market rate Prices subject to availability and project pricing.

The same 40 stations new would be $76,800 in furniture before the discount. Volume pricing steps up to 8% at 50 or more stations and 12% at 100 or more. Outside Greater Phoenix, freight is quoted per project nationwide.

Planning around the 7-14 day window

A lead time only helps if the rest of your schedule lines up with it. Work backward from your move-in or opening date:

  1. Finalize the layout first. Free space planning locks in station count, panel heights and power locations, so the order does not change after it starts.
  2. Confirm the order. Remanufactured stations usually take 7-14 days from there.
  3. Book your electrician and building access for the install window, including elevator time and any required insurance certificates.
  4. Install. Crews can work nights and weekends if your space is already occupied.

If your date is closer than two weeks, ask about putting liquidation-grade stations in some areas now and filling the rest with remanufactured stations when they are ready.

Questions to ask before you order

  • What work was done on these components, and which parts are original?
  • Which manufacturer and product line are the stations from, so you can add to them later?
  • Are the panels powered, and what will your electrician need to connect them?
  • What panel heights and worksurface sizes fit your layout and privacy needs?
  • What terms apply to this order, given that manufacturer warranties generally do not transfer?
  • Does your building require after-hours installation, insurance certificates or dock reservations?

Beyond workstations

Most offices need more than cubicles. Browse pre-owned office furniture for desks, conference tables and storage, and pre-owned office chairs to seat the stations you just bought. If you already own stations you want to rearrange rather than replace, see office furniture reconfiguration.

Moving out of an old space at the same time? Your outgoing furniture may help fund the new setup through office furniture liquidation, where you receive a written net offer based on resale value minus removal cost.

Talk Through Your Order

Frequently asked questions

What is remanufactured office furniture?

Remanufactured office furniture is pre-owned systems furniture that has been broken down, inspected and refreshed before it goes back into service. It is prepared for a cleaner, more consistent look than furniture sold as-is. Ask for the specific work done on your order, since it depends on the components.

How much does a remanufactured cubicle cost?

A 6'x6' remanufactured workstation is $1,245, furniture only. Electrical, delivery and professional installation are extra. Installation is $95 per workstation with a $495 minimum, and volume discounts start at 20 stations.

How long does remanufactured furniture take?

Remanufactured stations usually take 7-14 days. Liquidation-grade stations can be ready in as little as 72 hours when in stock, and new furniture typically takes 4-6 weeks.

Does remanufactured furniture come with a manufacturer warranty?

Generally, no. Office Station is an independent reseller, not an authorized dealer for any manufacturer, and manufacturer warranties generally do not transfer to pre-owned furniture. Ask about the terms that apply to your specific order before you buy.

Can I mix remanufactured and liquidation-grade stations?

Yes. Many buyers put remanufactured stations in client-facing areas and liquidation-grade stations in back-office or overflow space. Space planning is free, so we can map which tier goes where.
