Why pre-owned Teknion is worth a look

Teknion furniture is designed for large corporate floors, which means it is engineered for heavy daily use, repeated reconfiguration and long service lives. When a company relocates or downsizes, that furniture often has years of useful life left. Buying it pre-owned lets you put commercial-grade systems furniture in your office for a fraction of the new cost, and usually much sooner.

The trade-off is that you are buying what exists, not what you configure from a catalog. That makes grading, series matching and honest warranty expectations more important than they are with new furniture.

What pre-owned Teknion typically includes

Inventory depends on which offices are being cleared, so availability changes. These are the categories that most often come out of corporate Teknion installations:

  • Panel-based workstations. Cubicle systems with fabric or glass tiles, worksurfaces and hanging storage. These are the core of most large lots and the easiest place to save money.
  • Benching and open-plan desks. Shared-spine desking for teams that do not need high privacy panels.
  • Storage. Pedestals, lateral files, towers and credenzas. Storage is often the best-condition furniture in a liquidation because it moves the least.
  • Tables. Conference, meeting and training tables, sometimes with power modules.
  • Seating. Task, conference and guest chairs, covered in more detail below.

If you need a specific series or a matched set for a full floor, tell us the count and any existing furniture you are matching. It is easier to find the right lot when we know the target up front.

Independent reseller: what that means for you

Office Station sells pre-owned Teknion as an independent reseller. We are not an authorized Teknion dealer and are not affiliated with the manufacturer. In practice, that means three things:

  • No transferred warranty. Manufacturer warranties generally do not transfer to pre-owned furniture.
  • No factory ordering. We cannot order new Teknion parts or finishes through the manufacturer on your behalf.
  • Condition is the promise. Every item is graded so you know what you are getting before it arrives.

Liquidation-grade vs remanufactured pricing

Pre-owned systems furniture comes in two broad forms. Liquidation-grade furniture is sold largely as it came out of the previous office, cleaned and graded. Remanufactured furniture has been reworked, which can include new fabric, refinished surfaces or replaced components, so it looks more consistent across a large floor.

Here is a 6x6 workstation benchmark, furniture only, to help you budget:

Option6x6 workstation priceTypical lead time
Liquidation-grade$615As little as 72 hours in stock
Remanufactured$1,245Usually 7 to 14 days
New$1,9204 to 6 weeks

Average market rate Prices subject to availability and project pricing.

These figures exclude electrical, delivery and professional installation. Actual Teknion quotes depend on the series, panel heights, storage and worksurface components, and grade. Volume pricing applies at 5% off at 20 or more stations, 8% at 50 or more, and 12% at 100 or more.

What to check before buying used Teknion

  1. Series match. If you are expanding an existing Teknion floor, confirm the product line. Components from different lines usually do not connect.
  2. Panel and frame condition. Look for bent frames, missing connectors and stained or torn fabric tiles.
  3. Worksurfaces. Check edges, brackets and any grommet holes against where your power and data will come in.
  4. Storage keys and locks. Confirm pedestals and overheads either come with keys or can be rekeyed.
  5. Power components. Powered panel components should be evaluated by a licensed electrician before connection. Electrical is not included in furniture pricing.
  6. Quantities and finish consistency. For a full floor, confirm the lot is large enough and finishes match across every station.

Teknion seating

Teknion task chairs are common in the pre-owned market because they come out of large installations in quantity. See used Teknion chairs for grading and warranty specifics on seating, or go straight to the Teknion Contessa chair guide for what to inspect on that model.

Planning, delivery and installation

Space planning is free. Installation is $95 per workstation with a $495 minimum. Delivery in Greater Phoenix is $195 central or $295 metro. Everywhere else in the country, freight is quoted per project.

If you are on the other side of the transaction and have Teknion to clear out, Office Station also buys and removes furniture through office furniture liquidation with a written net offer: resale value minus removal cost.

Does the Teknion warranty transfer to used furniture?
