A breakroom is where your team actually spends its downtime, and the tables set the tone. They also take more abuse than almost anything else in the office: hot coffee, wet lunch containers, chairs banging into bases and constant wiping with cleaning spray. That combination makes used break room tables a practical buy. Commercial tables are built to handle this, and there is little reason to pay new prices for a surface that will pick up its first scratch in the first week.

Office Station pulls breakroom tables from corporate liquidations, grades each one, and gets in-stock pieces out the door quickly. Here is how to choose the right tables, what to inspect, and what delivery and installation cost.

Common breakroom table styles

  • Round cafe tables. 30 to 42 inches across, usually on a single disc or X base. They fit tight corners and encourage small-group conversation.
  • Square tables. 30 or 36 inches square. They can be pushed together for larger groups and separated again for daily use.
  • Rectangular tables. 30 by 60 or 30 by 72 inches are typical. Efficient for seating six or more along a wall of windows or in a long room.
  • Standing-height and bar-height tables. 40 to 42 inches tall. Good for quick coffee breaks and for rooms where you want more seats per square foot.
  • Communal tables. Long tables for eight or more that turn a breakroom into an all-hands or lunch-and-learn space.

Sizing your breakroom

Count the number of people who eat at the same time during your busiest window, then plan seating for that number plus a small buffer. The table below gives practical starting points.

Table sizeComfortable seatingApprox. floor area with chairs and clearance
30 inch round2 to 3About 7 by 7 feet
36 inch round or square4About 8 by 8 feet
42 inch round4, or 5 snugAbout 8.5 by 8.5 feet
30 by 60 inch rectangle6About 8 by 11 feet
30 by 72 inch rectangle6 to 8About 8 by 12 feet

These figures assume roughly 36 inches behind each seated person. Near refrigerators, microwaves and the coffee station, give yourself more room, because that is where people queue.

What to inspect on used breakroom tables

Breakroom tables fail in predictable ways. Check these before you accept any piece:

  1. Edge banding. Moisture gets under loose edges and swells the core. Run your hand around the full perimeter.
  2. Top-to-base attachment. Rock the top gently. Any wobble at the connection point usually means loose or stripped screws.
  3. Base stability. Single-pedestal tables should not tip when you lean on the edge. Check that all leveling glides are present.
  4. Surface stains and heat marks. Laminate tolerates a lot, but deep burns and rings do not clean out.
  5. Folding or flip mechanisms. If the table nests for storage, confirm the latch locks firmly in the open position.

Every table is graded A like new, B very good, or C good. Manufacturer warranties generally do not transfer to pre-owned furniture, so the grade and your inspection are what protect you. Office Station is an independent reseller and not an authorized dealer for any manufacturer.

Delivery, installation and timing

Speed is often the reason offices buy used breakroom furniture. Here is what to expect:

  • Liquidation-grade in stock: as little as 72 hours.
  • Remanufactured: usually 7 to 14 days.
  • New: typically 4 to 6 weeks.

Greater Phoenix delivery is a flat $195 for the central zone or $295 across the metro. Outside Greater Phoenix, freight is quoted per project anywhere in the country. Professional installation is $95 per workstation with a $495 minimum on workstation projects, and breakroom table assembly is addressed in your quote so you see the total before you order. Prices exclude electrical work, which matters if you are adding outlets for appliances.

Pair the breakroom with the rest of your move

Breakroom tables are rarely a standalone purchase. If you are furnishing a new suite, we can plan the breakroom alongside used cubicles and pre-owned office chairs so the whole space comes together on one schedule.

If you are leaving an old space, office furniture liquidation can clear what you are not keeping. You get a written net offer equal to resale value minus removal cost, and when that number is positive, you are paid. Crews work nights and weekends when needed and hand the space back broom clean with photo documentation.

Frequently asked questions

What size break room table do I need?

Start with how many people eat at the same time, not total headcount. A 36-inch round seats about four, a 42-inch round seats four comfortably, and a 30 by 60 inch rectangle seats six. Leave roughly 36 inches behind each chair so people can get in and out.

How quickly can used break room tables be delivered?

Liquidation-grade tables that are in stock can be ready in as little as 72 hours. Remanufactured pieces usually take 7 to 14 days. Greater Phoenix delivery is $195 central or $295 metro, and freight outside Phoenix is quoted per project.

What condition grade should I choose for a breakroom?

Many offices choose Grade B or Grade C for breakrooms because the tables will see daily wear regardless. Grade C pieces are fully functional and structurally sound with visible cosmetic wear. If the breakroom doubles as a space for client events, Grade A or B is worth considering.

Can you take away our old break room furniture?

Yes. Office Station provides office furniture liquidation and decommissioning, and we issue a written net offer equal to resale value minus removal cost. A positive offer means we pay you.
