Pre-owned office workstations

Tables take a beating in a way that chairs and panels do not. They get dragged, stacked, leaned on and written on. Yet a well-built commercial table is also one of the most durable things in an office, and that is why buying used office tables makes so much sense. A laminate or veneer top on a steel base will usually outlast several lease cycles, and the difference between a table that looks tired and one that looks sharp often comes down to the grade you choose.

Office Station sources tables from corporate liquidations across the Southwest, grades them, and helps you fit them to your rooms with free space planning. This page walks through the main table types, how grading works, and what to measure before you buy.

The three table categories most offices need

Most commercial table purchases fall into one of three groups. Each has its own sizing rules and its own weak points to inspect.

Conference tables

Conference tables anchor meeting rooms and boardrooms. Larger models ship in multiple top sections with a hidden joining system, and many include power and data modules built into the surface. For long tables, see our guide to used conference tables 72 inches or more, which covers room sizing and getting big tops into upper floors.

Training and flip-top tables

Training tables are narrower, often 18 to 24 inches deep, so rows of people can face a presenter. Many flip, nest or fold for storage, and many roll on casters. The mechanisms are the part that wears, so a quick function test matters more here than cosmetic condition.

Breakroom and cafe tables

Breakroom tables range from small round two-seaters to bar-height communal tables. They see food, moisture and heavy daily use, so edge banding and base stability are the priorities. Our used break room tables page covers sizing and installation in more detail.

If your team works standing part of the day, used electric height adjustable desks are a separate category with their own testing checklist for motors and frames.

Used, remanufactured and new compared

Every table we offer falls into one of three sourcing levels. The right one depends on your budget, your timeline and how visible the room is.

OptionWhat you getTypical lead timeBest for
Liquidation-gradePre-owned as removed from the original office and condition gradedAs little as 72 hours when in stockTraining rooms, breakrooms, fast move-ins, tight budgets
RemanufacturedPre-owned components refreshed to a more uniform lookUsually 7 to 14 daysClient-facing rooms where matching finishes matter
NewCurrent production furnitureTypically 4 to 6 weeksSpecific finishes or sizes not available pre-owned

To give a sense of the spread, a 6'x6' workstation runs $615 liquidation-grade, $1,245 remanufactured and $1,920 new, furniture only. Tables are not priced on that workstation scale, so individual tables are quoted based on size, brand and grade.

How condition grades work

Because manufacturer warranties generally do not transfer to pre-owned furniture, the condition grade is your main assurance. We use three grades:

  • Grade A, like new. No visible wear at normal viewing distance. Good for boardrooms and reception-adjacent spaces.
  • Grade B, very good. Light signs of use such as minor surface marks. The most common choice for everyday meeting rooms.
  • Grade C, good. Visible wear but fully functional and structurally sound. A smart buy for training rooms and breakrooms where tables get hard use anyway.

What to check on any used office table

Whether you are inspecting a piece in person or reviewing photos, run through this list:

  1. Top surface. Look for deep scratches, heat rings and water damage, especially near seams on multi-piece tops.
  2. Edge banding. Lifting or chipped edges are the first sign of moisture or impact damage.
  3. Base and leveling glides. The table should sit flat. Missing glides are cheap to replace, but a bent base is not.
  4. Hardware. Check that bolts and connectors are present, particularly on tables shipped in sections.
  5. Power and data modules. Confirm outlets and ports work and that the grommet covers are included.
  6. Mechanisms. Flip tops, casters and folding legs should lock securely every time.

Free space planning before you buy

The most common table mistake is buying a piece that technically fits the room but leaves no space to pull out chairs or walk behind seated people. A good rule is to leave at least 36 inches between the table edge and the nearest wall, and more where people will pass behind chairs.

Send us your room dimensions, door swings, window and outlet locations, and the seating count you need. We will return a layout that shows table sizes and clearances. The plan is free, and it keeps you from ordering the wrong size.

If you are also furnishing work areas, we can plan tables and used cubicles together so finishes and circulation paths work across the whole floor.

Frequently asked questions

What brands of used office tables do you carry?

Inventory comes from corporate liquidations, so it changes constantly. We regularly see tables from manufacturers such as Herman Miller, Steelcase, Knoll, Haworth, Teknion, Allsteel, Kimball, AIS and Friant. Office Station is an independent reseller, not an authorized dealer for any of these brands.

Do used tables come with a manufacturer warranty?

Manufacturer warranties generally do not transfer to pre-owned furniture. That is why every table is condition graded A, B or C before it is offered, so you know exactly what you are buying. Ask about any specific piece and we will describe its condition in detail.

Is space planning really free?

Yes. Send your room dimensions, door locations and how many people each room needs to seat, and we will lay out tables and clearances for you. There is no charge for the plan whether or not you buy.

How fast can I get used tables?

Liquidation-grade pieces that are in stock can be ready in as little as 72 hours. Remanufactured items usually take 7 to 14 days, and new furniture typically runs 4 to 6 weeks. We will confirm timing when you request a quote.

Do you deliver outside Phoenix?
