Building the full project budget
The furniture line is the biggest number, but it is not the only one. Prices exclude electrical, delivery and professional installation. A realistic benching budget includes:
- Installation: $95 per workstation with a $495 minimum. That is $1,900 for 20 seats, $4,750 for 50 and $9,500 for 100.
- Delivery: $195 in central Greater Phoenix or $295 in the metro. Freight elsewhere nationwide is quoted per project.
- Electrical: benching runs need power at the spine. Get your electrician or landlord involved early, because this work is separate from the furniture.
- Seating: every seat needs a chair. Budget it at the same time using pre-owned office chairs.
- Space planning: free, and worth doing before you lock in a seat count.
Choosing a tier for each part of the floor
You do not have to buy the whole floor in one tier. Large benching projects often split like this:
- Visible zones near entrances and meeting rooms: Grade A liquidation-grade or remanufactured product.
- General team areas: Grade B liquidation-grade, which keeps the per-seat cost near the low end of the range.
- Training rooms, project rooms and overflow: Grade C, structurally sound and fully functional with visible wear.
The catch is consistency. Benching looks best when runs within one area share the same system and finish, so split tiers by room or zone rather than within a single run.
What to confirm on a large pre-owned benching order
- Enough matching inventory. Confirm the full seat count is available in one system and finish before you commit, especially for 50 or more seats.
- Complete components. Every run needs its end supports, beams, screens and cable trays. Missing parts are the most common cause of install delays.
- Surface size per seat. A 60-inch-wide seat and a 72-inch-wide seat change how many seats fit per run and the price per seat.
- Height adjustability. Decide at the start whether each seat needs sit-stand, since it narrows inventory and changes the budget.
- Building logistics. Freight elevator access, dock times and after-hours rules affect install scheduling for large orders.
