Pre-owned office workstations

Buying used office desks is one of the fastest ways to furnish an office without paying new-furniture prices or waiting weeks for a factory order. The catch is that "used" covers everything from a lightly handled designer desk to a piece that has been through three moves. This page walks you through the desk types we carry, how to read a condition grade, and what you will pay to get desks delivered and set up.

Desk types at a glance

Most offices need a mix. A private office might want an executive desk, a tight interior room might need a corner unit, and a busy team area often runs best on L-shaped desks with a return. Start with the job each person does, then pick the shape.

Designer lines, sold independently

We sell pre-owned furniture from lines such as Herman Miller, Steelcase, Knoll, Haworth, Humanscale, Teknion, Allsteel, Kimball, AIS and Friant. Office Station is an independent reseller, not an authorized dealer for any of these manufacturers. In practice that means two things for you.

  • Price. You pay pre-owned pricing on commercial-grade construction that was built to last in a corporate office.
  • Warranty. Manufacturer warranties generally do not transfer to pre-owned furniture, so you should judge each desk on its grade and on what you see, not on a factory warranty.

Inventory changes as furniture comes and goes, so specific models and finishes are not always in stock. If you need a matched set, tell us the count early.

How condition grades work

Every desk is graded so you can match quality to the room. A client-facing office and a back-room workstation do not need the same finish.

GradeWhat it meansWhere it fits
ALike newExecutive suites, reception, conference-facing offices
BVery goodMost private offices and team areas

What to check before you buy a used desk

Whether you are looking at a desk in person or reviewing photos, run through this list.

  • Surface. Look at edges and corners, where laminate and veneer chip first.
  • Frame and leveling. Legs and panels should be square, with leveling glides present.
  • Drawers and pedestals. Slides should run smoothly, and ask whether keys are included for locking pedestals.
  • Cable management. Grommets, troughs and modesty panels save a lot of cord mess later.
  • Dimensions. Confirm width, depth and height against your room and doorways, not just the listing.
  • Parts count. Returns, bridges and hutches are separate pieces. Make sure every part you need is on the quote.

Lead times by tier

How fast you get desks depends on which tier you choose.

  • Liquidation-grade: as little as 72 hours when the pieces are in stock.
  • Remanufactured: usually 7 to 14 days.
  • New: 4 to 6 weeks.

For comparison on a common open-plan setup, a 6'x6' workstation runs $615 liquidation-grade, $1,245 remanufactured and $1,920 new, furniture only. That spread is a useful gut check for how much a pre-owned tier can save across a whole office.

How ordering works

  1. Send headcount, room sizes or a floor plan, and the desk types you have in mind.
  2. Get a free space plan showing sizes and clearances.
  3. Choose grades and tiers for each area.
  4. Review a written quote with furniture, delivery and installation broken out.
  5. Schedule delivery and setup.

If you are also clearing out old furniture to make room, our office furniture liquidation service gives you a written net offer: the resale value of what you have minus the cost to remove it. Frequently asked questions

Are your used office desks covered by the manufacturer warranty?

Generally no. Office Station is an independent reseller, not an authorized dealer, and manufacturer warranties generally do not transfer to pre-owned furniture. That is why every piece carries a condition grade so you know what you are getting up front.

What do the condition grades mean?

Grade A is like new, Grade B is very good, and Grade C is good. Grade A suits client-facing rooms, Grade B fits most open offices, and Grade C is the budget choice where light wear does not matter.

How much does delivery cost?

In Greater Phoenix, delivery is $195 in the central zone and $295 across the metro. Outside Greater Phoenix, freight is quoted per project anywhere in the country.

Can you help me figure out which desks fit my space?

Yes. Space planning is free. Send your floor plan or rough room dimensions and headcount, and the layout comes back with desk sizes and clearances before you commit to anything.

Do desk prices include installation?

No. Furniture prices exclude electrical, delivery and professional installation. Installation is quoted with your project so you see the full cost in writing.
