Pre-owned office workstations

Training rooms and classrooms put a lot of bodies in a small space, and they get rearranged constantly. Used tablet arm chairs handle both jobs well. Each one is a seat and a writing surface in a single footprint, and a room of them can go from lecture rows to small-group clusters in a few minutes.

Because tablet chairs tend to come out of training centers, universities and corporate learning floors in large matching batches, the pre-owned market is one of the better places to furnish an entire room with a consistent look at a lower price than new.

When tablet chairs are the right choice

Tablet chairs are not the answer for every room. Here is how they compare with the two most common alternatives.

SetupSeats per roomReconfigurationBest for
Tablet arm chairsHighestFast, one piece per personOnboarding, lectures, short sessions, discussion circles
Training tables with stack chairsModerateSlower, tables need movingLaptop-heavy courses, long workshops
Flip-top nesting tables with task chairsLowerModerateAll-day training with lots of materials

If your sessions mostly involve a notebook, a phone and a presenter at the front, tablet chairs usually win. If attendees spread out a laptop, a binder and a coffee, tables are kinder.

Features worth comparing

Tablet size and position

Small tablets hold a notepad. Larger tablets can take a small laptop, but they also make it harder to get in and out of the seat. Fixed tablets are sturdier. Pivoting or folding tablets make entry easier and help with storage.

Handedness

Most tablets mount on the right. Plan for some left-hand or pivoting tablets so part of your group is not writing across their body all day.

Mobility

Casters make regrouping effortless on hard floors. Glides keep a lecture layout tidy. Some models add a storage rack or book basket under the seat.

Storage

Stacking, nesting or neither. If the room doubles as event space, this one detail decides whether the chairs live in a closet or in the way.

Planning a training room

Before you settle on a number, sketch the room. Our space planning is free, and it helps answer the questions that trip people up:

  • How many seats fit in lecture rows with a clear aisle and exits?
  • How many fit when the room breaks into groups of four or six?
  • Where does the presenter stand, and can everyone see the screen?
  • Where do chairs go when the room is cleared for an event?
  • How many left-hand or pivoting tablets do you need?

Plan your training room

Condition grades and what to inspect

Each chair gets a condition grade so a room of thirty chairs does not hide a few surprises.

  • Grade A, like new. Minimal wear. A fit for client-facing training centers.
  • Grade B, very good. Light cosmetic wear. The practical choice for most internal training rooms.
  • Grade C, good. Visible wear, fully functional. Good value for classrooms and high-traffic rooms.

When reviewing tablet chairs specifically, check these points:

  1. Tablet mount. The tablet should not wobble or sag when you lean on it.
  2. Tablet surface. Look for edge chips, pen gouges and delamination.
  3. Pivot or fold mechanism. It should move smoothly and lock in place.
  4. Frame welds and joints. Tablet chairs get dragged; check where the arm meets the frame.
  5. Seat and back. Cracks in shells or worn upholstery on the front edge.
  6. Casters or glides. Missing glides scratch floors quickly.

Office Station sells pre-owned seating as an independent reseller, not an authorized dealer, and manufacturer warranties generally do not transfer. The grade and the inspection points above are your quality control.

Delivery and setup

In Greater Phoenix, delivery is $195 for central zones and $295 for the wider metro. Everywhere else nationwide, freight is quoted per project based on quantity and destination. If your training room is part of a larger fit-out, you can add used cubicles and workstations or other pre-owned office chairs to the same order.

Closing or consolidating a training center?

Training rooms often get cut first when a company shrinks its footprint. If you have a room full of tablet chairs to move out, those chairs are part of a liquidation inventory. We walk the space, then send a written net offer: the resale value minus the cost of removal. A positive number means you are paid. Walkthroughs typically happen within 48 hours in Greater Phoenix and 2 to 3 business days in our other markets, with offers within 5 business days.

If the whole floor is going, see office decommissioning for how we handle e-waste, itemized inventory and a photo-documented broom-clean handback.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose tablet arm chairs over tables and chairs for training?

A tablet arm chair combines the seat and writing surface in one footprint, so you can fit more people in the same room and reconfigure it in minutes. Tables still make sense for long workshops with laptops and binders. Many training centers keep one room of each.

Are left-handed tablet arms available?

Most tablet chairs are built with a right-hand tablet, and some models offer a left-hand version or a pivoting tablet. Availability on the pre-owned market depends on what comes out of each project. Tell us the ratio you need, a common starting point is about one in ten, and we will look for it.

Can I get a large quantity in matching condition?

Tablet chairs usually come out of training centers and classrooms in large, uniform batches, which makes volume matching realistic. We grade each chair A, B or C and can tell you how many of a given model and grade are available before you commit.

Do tablet chairs stack or nest?

Some tablet chairs stack, some nest with a folding tablet, and some are fixed. If you store seating between sessions, ask about storage method up front because it varies by model and affects how much closet space you need.

Is there a manufacturer warranty on used tablet chairs?

Office Station is an independent reseller, not an authorized dealer. Manufacturer warranties generally do not transfer to pre-owned furniture, so the condition grade and your review of specifics are what you rely on.
